Gahan’s Experience
Gahan completed the Unedurga Fort trek near Hosur, Tamil Nadu, along with his cousins Lakshiv and Dhyan and their parents. The children were excited as they walked together along the trail, climbing rocks and encouraging each other.
Some parts of the path were steep and rocky, so everyone had to be careful while climbing and coming down. When they reached the summit, the kids felt proud of completing the trek and enjoyed the cool breeze while looking at the surrounding hills and villages.
About the Trek
The Unedurga Fort trek is a short hike of around 4–5 km round trip and usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. The trail includes rocky paths, dry forest patches, and open hill slopes. The final stretch involves climbing large granite rocks, adding a bit of adventure. The trek is easy to moderate, making it suitable for beginners and families with children, and the summit offers beautiful views of the hills around Hosur and Krishnagiri.
History and Facts
Unedurga Fort, also known as Udedurgam or Hudedurgam, is an ancient hill fort in the Krishnagiri region of Tamil Nadu.
It was part of the Baramahal forts, a group of twelve hill forts that protected important routes between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The fort was once under the Mysore Kingdom, including Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, before coming under British control during the Anglo–Mysore wars.
Today, remnants of old fort walls can still be seen, and the granite hill itself forms a natural fortress.
